How to Get Trained and Certified as a TABB or Indoor Air Quality Technician

Prepare for Certification

1. Take the online course through the International Training Institute
   • Go to sheetmetal-iti.org/OnlineClasses
   • Register or sign in to your Moodle account using the directions on the page
   • Select “Testing Adjusting and Balancing (TAB)” or “Ventilation Verification for Indoor Air Quality”
   • Complete course
2. Review the applicable Knowledge Base in the current ICB Certification Manual
   • A link to the current manual can be found on this page: https://www.icbcertified.org/certification/
3. TABB Technician only: contact your local training center to take practical, hands-on training

Apply for Certification

1. Register for or sign into your ICB Certified account
2. Select the “Apply for New Certification” option
3. Select the TABB Technician or Indoor Air Quality Technician certification and click “Apply”
4. Register to begin the application process

Certification Testing

Contact the training center coordinator in your area to schedule your certification exam(s).

The TABB Technician certification exam is a written and practical exam.

The IAQ Technician certification exam is a written exam.
