Bio Safety Cabinets

Hazards posed by today's antibiotic resistant bacteria and viruses threaten the professionals who devote their lives to treating and curing others. These threats to worker health and safety have motivated the development of bio safety cabinets. These cabinets help contain the microorganisms and other undesirable particulate matter.

NEMI is working with its task force to complete a teaching tool for the NSF Certification. Curriculum is currently being developed and labs are being constructed in three locations to host classes for this future certification.

Bio-safety cabinets are the primary means of containment developed for the purpose of working safely with infectious microorganisms. Our developing certification program will be designed to provide workers with appropriate protection when proper standards are applied to practices and procedures.
